Scottish Society of Central California presents its annual Robert Burns Supper celebration. Hear about the Ploughman Poet, the Bard of Scotland. Raise drams toasting the Haggis, the Laddies and Lassies. Bagpipe and Drum band and Highland dancers. Live entertainment. Dancing. Installation of the Board of Governors. Big Hat Days
Kick off Western heritage month at the largest festival in the Central Valley (65 years and running). Wear a “big hat” to shield you from the rays as you visit over 400 food and craft booths, peruse the home and garden show, listen to live entertainment and have a ball at the street carnival.

Clovis Rodeo
A way of life since 1914, this annual tradition has grown to become a stop on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Tour. A true regional event, festivities include an opening night concert by a top country music artist, a rodeo parade complete with a queen and her court, a dance and a special “kids’ rodeo” event.

SEPTEMBER
Clovis Fest
For 30 years, the Clovisfest and Hot Air Balloon Fun Fly is held on the last full weekend in September, attracting over 70,000 visitors. Two days of free family fun in Old Town Clovis are centered around 25 booths with multi-cultural food, great live entertainment, over 200 craft artisans, carnival games and a great car display. Each day at sunrise the sky fills with colorful hot air balloons, lifting off to float across the Valley.

DECEMBER
Children’s Electric Christmas Parade
Since 1988, the parade has blinked and twinkled its merry way through Old Town Clovis, featuring kids, live animals, costumed characters and brilliantly lit holiday floats. Parade participants have only one rule – they must be decorated with lights!

Big Dry Creek Historical Museum - Clovis
The building that houses this museum is equally famous as the site of an historic and daring 1924 bank robbery. The museum itself features the history of Clovis from its logging town roots to the present. California Memorial Museum - Clovis
The California Memorial Museum displays hundreds of items donated from the FDNY, NYPD, and Port Authority Police Departments to Pelco president David McDonald following the attacks of Sept.11. This unique collection includes an American Flag flown by the FDNY at Ground Zero, debris recovered at the World Trade Center site, an FDNY firefighter uniform worn during recovery operations, as well as hundreds of photos and other memorabilia. The museum also includes viewing a video summary of the California Memorial dedication event. 3500 Pelco Way, Clovis. (559) 292-1981

And last but not least....................... Festus of Gunsmoke fame:
Festus was from Clovis, CA. He died there on his ranch. Clovis is in Fresno County, right here. Here's a neat link about him, and you can hear him singing (not many people know he could sing). They have a bronze statue of him in their "Old Town Clovis" part of town. Hmm, they have some fun goings on, I'll have to post information on them in Road Trippin'.
