Forgot where it was about the rabbits so putting it here.
Old Farmer's Almanac
How to Keep Rabbits Out of Your Garden rabbit
As their twitching noses indicate, rabbits sniff a lot. Suspicious-smelling substances like dried blood meal can keep them from munching in small flower beds. Sprinkle dried blood on the soil surface around all your plants as early in the season as you can, and repeat after a heavy rain. Deodorant soap shavings placed in cloth bags around the garden will also help to keep rabbits away.
**So it just has to be deodorant soap, joyce not a certain brand. I guess the one you heard about is pretty strong smelling. Try Irish Spring soap.

Yea I bought me some Irish Spring other day. Didn't know it would keep rabbits away. I do know sprinkling buttermilk on stuff that rabbits are nibbling on works. I have done that for years. Like my cabbage and carrots, sweet peas, etc. The only thing after it rains you have to do it again. Works every time. Can't say I blame the rabbits buttermilk taste awful.

Yep, I have a fence around both gardens and also my pasture. Around my gardens are electric fences but I have seen them jump it just like the fence around the pasture. I seen them walk up to the fence and talk one little leap and BAM they are in my pasture.

I keep saying I'm gonna shoot em. But being here in town and dang neighbors behind the property and on both sides, kinda makes it hard if I miss the deer. So far with my electric fences and the pie pans and white sacks hanging and the hair from the beauty shop and the soap hanging off the trees I hadn't had any deer in the gardens. ;D

On a serious side. If you get wolf or coyote urine and put around your garden they will keep away. You can get it at most hunting-fishing stores, just follow the directions .These animals are predators of deer.

Glad you told where to get it. I hate to visualize joyce tryin to get a wolf or coyote ta pee in a jar! ;D Ha Ha I have read about that and checked in some of the gardening catalogs and it's too expensive for me. I ain't paying $25.00 for a bottle of coyote pee. We have a gang of coyotes around here. You can hear em especially in the early spring. I see some once in awhile.

Joyce what you could try is this also. Here in Michigan we have UofM Unversity and also Michigan State Unversity, try 1 of your local colleges, most have agriculture center, they will be more than happy to help you out with a deer problem and I'd be willing to bet, they also have the urine, they will give it to you.

Great idea, thanks. There is an experiment station the next town over from me. University of Tennessee. I would never have thought about getting in contact with them. Across the road from me 50 acres has been for sale for the past 5 years....well it finally sold a couple of weeks ago and the fools are in there logging. I guess the deer will be all lost and not knowing what to do or where to go now.

oooooooooh, could mean when they finish, they might have plans for a subdivision! You will be in the city before ya know!! Naw, it will never happen here......a subdivision that is. This town is too backward for something like that. Oh the stories I could tell. I'm already in the city, just at the edge of the city limits. Close as I want to be to.
