Th big type of sunflower grow tall. I have a teddy bear 4 feet with soft all yellow 6 inch flowers. There are reds white and yellow mix. Soe of the flowers have 15 flowers. grow them in a small pot and they will only get 3 feet high. bigger pots bigger flowers.I have about 10 varities. You can buy mixed sunflowers in Wal Mart 20 seeds for a $1.

I remember a long long time ago our neighbor had sunflowers that stood over 4 foot tall...that is what I want so that I can sit a child in the middle of the sunflower garden and take photos...it would be beautiful!

I would love to have some seeds that will do well in containers. I'm renting and the landlord said I can't plant in the yard. But I have a nice sunny porch that so far seems to be shaded during the afternoon. I also have 4 windows that face north and west with wide sills that I can put planter boxes on! I don't know what kind of plants work inside, I always planted in the yard. I live in Southern Indiana, I don't know why that matters, just thought I'd throw it in for the heck of it. I miss my garden and I wanna go back home!

PM me your address and I will share some seeds with ya.
Would your landlord mind if you had a fast growing pretty vine with small red trumpet flowers that draw hummers and butterflies? It needs something to climb on and it will make its own seeds after it blooms. It will grow in a container.

I don't know how to PM!!! I tell you what, I feel pretty stupid on this this thing! I'll have to ask him about the vine. I planted a wisteria at the base of my bradford pear at the house I just sold. It's growing up into the branches and spreading. I wanted to see the purple flowers dangling amongst the white ones but will have to drive 75 miles. If the present owner doesn't cut it down, I'll post some pictures. Hey! I could send a friend who lives close by to take pics and send them to me. Save on gas and tears! I may do that instead. ;D

To PM someone, click on their name to get to their profile. At the top right, click to send a personal message. Just type a subject and what you want to say in body, and send it. When you get a message and want to answer it, just click reply at the top. If you want to remember what you are replying to you can click quote and it will put what that person wrote to you in your reply. You can type your reply above it or below it.
I have a wisteria and hoping it blooms good this yr. Mine came from the wild ones. A lady at work got me some good roots from her grandmothers house. She said they are growing everywhere at the end of her woods. It takes 10 yrs for them to bloom real good. Mine has had a few blooms the last 2 or 3 yrs and I think this yr is about 6 or 7 yrs since I planted it. I wish I had wrote it down when she gave it to me, but I know it was before 03 when I first got hurt at work.
We would love to see your pics.

Probably your best bet on some flowers for planter boxes is to wait til about April or the 1st part of May and go to Lowe's or Wally World and buy some of the 6 pkg. little container of plants. Maybe some impatients, petunias, some creeping vines, things of that nature. I think that is easier than planting seeds and worrying about them coming up. I wonder about that rose I sent you last year. Oh well I can send ya another one is ya want me too.

475 I think that a nasturtium flower woud do great on the porch. You can even use them in hanging planters. The flowers are nice and the leaves are like hexigon. The nice thing i you can eat any part of the plant even the flowers in salads. ther are like mixed colors. Its a big seed the size of a pea. The flowers produce several new seeds. look it up in any flower catalog. good catfish eatting in Indiana.

The rose is at my youngest daughter's house along with all the other flowers. She didn't get the trees though, she said it would have been a little obvious if she would have left 6 foot deep holes in the yard where she dug them up. She said there is no way the (idiot) guy who bought the house is keeping any of the flowers though. And so far they're all doing really good. "Rosie" (My youngest grandson named her) bloomed after she transplanted it and well into the fall. She went tee totally nuts over it. I told her she could only keep it until I buy another house though. She took some cuttings and I showed her how to plant them. She's patiently waiting to see how they did. Like mother, like daughter I suppose. ;D
