Maybe the pen is too small. If you plan on getting more or keepin them forever, make the pen so big they don't realize they are in one.

the pen the new ones are in, isnt that big but they got plenty of room. They'll be in this pen for a few weeks to adjust an see if they got anything. Last time we got goats at the auction, we had a pink eye epedemic. Aint doin that again. I think the lil feller just wanted to go see what the other goats were about. I guess that would be a "fellerette" since he aint got no Nads. lol DW started calling his goat, Blackie", yesterday. I said Cant ya be alil more imagnitive? I been callin her "Flighty" cuz the way she acts. But name it whatever ya want. (bee interestin to see what he wud do if he had two black goats ) I will prolly change names on mine thrity times for I settle on sumpthin. I was callin mine Tweedle-dee an Tweedle-Dum till the fence jumpin. Then it has been Tony-balony and Tommy-salomy.

Well, I can't dowse that fire. Goat is Good Eats out here! The Border folks have a BBQ recipe that is tailor made for Diabetics!!! And GOOD! Their Barbacoa de Cordero doesn't use sugar in any form, in the traditional recipe. And tasty, too!
Annie, have at it! Send an Invite round my way! Might not make it, but would feel pleasured and special to get it!
BBQ Goat or Lamb: Barbacoa de Cordero Recipe courtesy Aaron Sanchez Show: Melting Pot Episode: Nuevo Latino--BBQ Party 4 guijillo chiles 2 teaspoons cumin seeds 1 teaspoon ground cloves 10 allspice berries 1/3 cup Mexican oregano 12 sprigs fresh thyme 6 garlic cloves 1 Spanish onion, roughly chopped 1/3 cup cider vinegar 1 (12-pound) goat, quartered or 1 (6 to 8-pound) lamb shoulder Salt and pepper 1 (2-pound) package dried avocado leaves
Toast chiles, cover with boiling water in a deep bowl, and set aside for 20 minutes. Grind cumin, cloves, allspice, and oregano in coffee grinder. Drain soaked chiles, puree in blender the chiles, ground spices, thyme, garlic, onion, vinegar, and 1/2 cup of water. Process until smooth Push mixture through a sieve, season goat with salt and pepper. Rub paste all over the meat. Arrange in a bowl and allow to marinate for 4 hours, refrigerated.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
In a deep roaster pan scatter half of the avocado leaves on the bottom, place meat on top of the avocado leaves and scatter the remaining leaves over the meat. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil. Cook the goat 6 to 7 hours until meat is falling off the bone. If using lamb shoulder cook for 4 hours.
***Fresh avocado leaves are toxic, they must be dried to be used for cooking. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yeah, never used leaves. If'n you want, I should be able to talk my neighbor out of some leaves. His Avocado's suck, loudly, but I haven't the heart to tell him. The tree is a 'Bacon' or some such. Large, meaty fruit, with nary a bit of flavor, just a lot of fat, and blah... I dunno, the leaves might be better. I could hook up the ladder, venture over the fence and forage. He had one of my chickens for nearly a week and never noticed. Perhaps he wouldn't hear the thump, when my large posterier hit the ground and shook the house?
Barbacoa is amazing eats. DO try it!
