The penny thing I will have to try next time,I'm sure I'll get stung alot more before this summer is over. The baking soda worked wonders so far.

I have used the baking soda thing, too. Make sure by day that you know where the whole nest is before you try to take it out. Plan a place to go quickly if things don't go as planned. Ouch!

Well ya didnt mention if it was honey bees ot them otherkinds. If its honey bees, They leave theri stinger in ya. DONT SQUEEZE the stinger when ya remove it. Instead scrape it out with a sharp edge of yer knife or a razor blade. The lil thing is like a sryinge an will pump ya full of the stinger sap and make it worse. Otherwise, if its them nasty lil ground bees, or just bout anything with a stinger. I use Plantain on all my bug bites/stings/etc. (was showed to me by an old feller many years ago) One exception, an that be chiggers. Ya gotta have the bug gone before ya put this stuff on or it dont seem to work. Just smush it up an rub the juices on yer bite. Like if its a skeeter bite or tick bite. (also stops itchin on poison ivy). If its a Bee sting, Bumblebee sting, Hornet, Spider bite, Scorpion sting, I make a pultice outta a few leaves smushed up an taped on for bouta hour or till it heats up, then change an do it again. Heres a couple links so you can see what I'm talkin bout. We have two common types here an both work equally as well. It grows all over the world, best as I can find about it. Least I've found it in every state I been in. And its free. lol calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_query?query_src=photos_index&where-taxon=Plantago+majorwww.missouriplants.com/Others/Plantago_lanceolata_page.htmlSome more info on it>> www.healthy.net/scr/article.asp?ID=1434Say if you get skeeter bite in the evening, you can rub a lil juice on it an in bout ten minutes the itch is gone an the next day, you aint even gotta red spot. I just bout betcha its in yer yard somewhere.

Plantain is all over the place here. I am glad you reminded me. Always forget to try this on poison oak. I always get it very yr...probably soon now too. I have tried every thing for poison oak and seems nothing but time works. Wrote down how to make the poultice. Don't mind trying that but will pass on consuming it. lol

Oh yeah, and glad it wasn't honey bees. I would hate to think you destroyed those. What I hate every time I am working outside are those big ole carpenter bees and red wasps!

Hill, thanks for reminding me what it seems I used to know. If you could help me to remember how it is that I think I should have remembered such a thing, that would be nice. Seb

after reading all this I felt I hadda share a true story with y'all. Last summer my 9 year old granddaughter came in the house and casually said "mom I got stung by a bee" she had one big tear rolling down her cheek. My daughter turned to look at her and she was covered in bees, they were in her hair inside her clothes .....everywhere. she had disturbed a nest at the base of a rotted out tree. My daughter got all the bees off and in the process was stung 14 times herself. She then took her to emergency and the poor kid had 117 stings and nearly died. She never did really cry but both her eyes were swollen completely shut and she looked like an alien. She will be strong like her gramma.

Years ago,my ex had a family pinic and her uncle was drinking a can a beer.A bee was inside the can and when he took a sip,it stung him in the throat,by the time he hit the ground he was dead. When I'm outdoors now sipping on my pop,I check to make sure there isn't a bee hiding in the can.

A lady at work had a coke can sitting outside and took a drink. A red wasp stung her on the lip! I saw what she looked like after that, and I never have a can outside...always a cup with a top or an open glass so I can see. I have a slight allergy to red wasps and swell up like a balloon when stung on the hand.
