Finally, after fishin for over a month of seldom anything more than a gar or a drum, the cats start biting. Startin last friday, I and/or some of my friends have been catchin fish. Even with the odds against us. Like wind outta the east an the lake dropping bouta foot a day. Last night's haul was a total of 16 pounds of fish. All total since last friday has been rite around 60 pounds. Was bout dang time. Fish was startin to cost bout $35 a pound with gas an expenses. I gotta few pics I'll get up sometime. Nuttin spectacular tho.

It do make a differnce in a feller's attitude, don't it?!? I been studyin bout th sitchyation a sizable dab. I done come ta think it's cause th shad, an all baitfish fer that matter are now more or less confined to th ol river channel an lake bed. Seems like all spring an summer they's been at least 10 times more area fer th fish, (an th fish food) ta scatter out ! Them ol boys up th rivers that feed this lake started catchin before we did which all happens ta coincide with th waters gittin back in their more normal banks. I reckon it's a perfect example of one a them "trickle down effects"!!! Pun intended! Anuther thing I noticed last nite was that th male fish are perty ragged an spent, seems like. I reckon we just happened ta disturb them where they was guardin a nest, or they could have hatched an are now free ta git out an about some. Either way it awta git better as th males come offa th nests. They ain't fed inna while.

The last friday in July, ridge and me went out an caught about 20lbs out the rivr up here. it's a small one an yall would probably call it a stream but its the best we got around here. Biggest one was about 8 lbs or so. Last friday couldnt get a friggin nibble other than some baby bluegill we used for bait to no avail.
