Not really sure if this is the right place to post this,to late now.lol I live on a dirt road and have problems with dust.Cars go done the road, dust follows.Nitrogen also works for dust control.I take my spreader and fill with nitrogen and walk on the road spreading the nitrogen. It lasts for weeks and if you wanted to you could wet it after you spread it but its not necessary to do that. The dew in the ground will wet it for you. We use to have brine put on our roads but the cost is steep.

Wow, never heard of that one either.
I am guessing what you call nitrogen is the same thing as ammonia nitrate. They have really tightened up thru this part of the country on selling that. Ya know meth labs..... Most of the places around here make you sign a piece of paper now with your name, address and phone number and you have to also show identification especially if they don't know ya.

You know it is hard getting it here also, but you can get it. Never thought about meth-labs,I was thinking with all these knuckleheads making bombs,is why they make you fill out forms.I get mine at the co-op.

I wouldn't put the nigrate on the maters, cause too much will kill them, especially young plants.Use the salt on the maters.

That's probably why they didn't make ya sign anything cause of the small amount you got, spydie. See I buy the 50lb bag of it. I put it around my maters. Just not to close about 6 inches away from the base of the plant. I try and do that when they are prediciting rain. That's what I did other day. I put ammonia nitrate around everything in the garden, except for the purple hull peas, I never do that cause they will turn to vine and have no peas. They grow best in poor soil, no fertlizer or anything. But getting back to the maters. Just sprinkle some around them. I have done that for years. I probably wouldn't do the nitrate and Kosher salt at the same time, now that might kill em. If it was me I would do the salt first since you got it. Wait maybe a couple of weeks and then do the nitrate. JMO.

I ain't too good at gardening and all I got is mater plants. 2 tommie toes and 3 regular plants. Afraid of killing them so I put some kosher salt around one of them. And see if it does ok next few days. If it does then next week or two before a rain, I will put the nitrate around it. Can I just throw a hand full and scatter it in my flower beds? I put some around the vine that ain't doing so well. What about the kosher salt. Would it do flowers any good to put it around some of them?

Just make sure with the nitrate that the plants are good and dry. Wait til mid-morning or early afternoon.Don't get any on the leaves or too close to the base of the plants. I use it around all my flowers a couple of times during the growing season.

ok, good to know. Gonna try it. Guess I shouldn't have thrown that handful on one of my little flower beds. oops. I know it hit some of the leaves. Maybe it will just affect where it hit and not the whole thing. Oh well,if it does I been wanting some change....lmao!
