They are blaming it on the Easter Freeze, the dry weather and now the wet weather. Tomatoes are coming in here good now and they are getting $1.50 lb. for them. Also the man I was suppose to get my corn for can take his corn and shove it. He is wanting $4.00 a dozen for it. No way am I paying that for a dozen ears of corn. I will go to Wally World and buy canned corn and continue to eat that like I have all year. I have a feeling if anybody wants any homegrown veges this year you are gonna pay dearly for them. I would like to hear from the rest of y'all how much fresh veges are costing.

Well, right now our corn is going about 4 ears for a $1. Corn is going to take a big price jump because of the ethanol plants, you watch and see. Green bell peppers are 2 for $1, red, yellow and orange ones are $2.99/lb! Cucumbers are $1 to 1.50 ea, and as for the rest of it, well, I've been buying frozen for several months, just too much!

I bought cucumbers seedless for $2.99 for a package of 5. And the tomatoes I bought were the larger ones and they were $2.99 a pound. I haven't bought corn yet, and one red onion was 2.99, I don't need but one or two, so I don't buy them in the bag which is cheaper. Green onions were $2.99 for two small bunches. One head of red leaf lettuce was also $2.99. I'll check out the corn next time I go to the store.

OMG! I thought corn was being used because its so easy to grow normally, without all the bad luck we had this year of course. But why does every thing have to go up just because they find a new use for it? It won't even be any use making fuel out of it if the price goes so high! That is sooo stupid! Wow joyce gave me a whole bunch of cucumbers....for FREE! ;D I had some sweet vinegar I had saved from pickles I ate. I cut them up and put them in those two jars. The rest I put in the kosher dill jar I had almost finished eating. And I saved one big one for salads.

I pulled up 2 of the cucumber vines yesterday. Just making too many and nobody wants any around here. Right now I probably have half a 5 gallon bucket full in the refrigerator. We just don't eat enough pickles to justify me making any. I guess things are still cheaper here than in other parts of the country. I don't see how people can afford to pay these prices. Sure does make it hard on a person.
