OMG!! $6.00 a piece, I hadn't even seen any pumpkins round here yet. I remember a story in the daily paper about 3 weeks ago I guess said one guy around here had a 40 acre pumpkin farm and it was ruined because of the lack of rain this year.
I'll have to check on this.

Just found out this afternoon the big pumpkin farm at Milan has em in storage and will be putting em out for sale this weekend. Can't find out the prices yet. My friend did manage to sneak me 2 sweet potato pumpkins. They are for eating not decorating. ;D If they are cheap enough I'll send ya a couple froggie.

I was craving a watermelon again and they were $6.99 again at Market Place! They didn't have a sign saying they were from Missouri so I am assuming those are gone now. I think I will drive over to the corner on 45 where I got those from the guy for $4 and see if he is still selling them.

$2.99? Not at our Wal Mart, they were $4.99 still a little cheaper than the regular grocery. All these little podunk "holidays" are just a ploy to get people to spend money on stupid crap. I have to buy halloween costumes too at (least) $20 each. I am ganna be broke before Thanksgiving, not that I was far from it any way. The Zoo here is having Treats & a little something going on but of course no one wants to go except me LOL.

Hey spydie, ya oughta check the Farmers Market down there by the paper. I bet if anybody has any watermelons they would. Sorta get late in the season for em. Yea they hype up this Halloween stuff more every year. They make it seem almost a crime if you don't spend a wad of money and take the children out and dress em up. They sorta skip Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas. About 3 weeks ago Wally World had Christmas lights and decorations out.

haven't seen what pumpkins are gonna be yet here. They're still setting up the "Pumpkin Patches" and all I've seen in the grocery stores so far are the little ones for decorating tables. Nothing big yet. Froggie, have you considered making costumes? I buy material on sale and just make them for the kids. Lots of times I don't use a pattern, just cut and sew.

Mom made all my costumes when I was little. I still aitn spent no money onna costume. I just use my imagination. One time I wore an old pair of bib overalls an stuffed a lil pillow up on my back an put on an old coat. was a Hunchback. Kids called me Igor the friendly monster. Another time I again wore old clothes an was a hanged man onna haunted hayride. I wore an full body harness under my clothes an put a noose round my neck. The noose wasnt attached. A secondary rope, was. Cooked a ziplock bad fulla rice an before the wagon got to me, I dug out a handfull an stuffed in my mouth on on my face for the "maggot effect". ;D ANother time I got a hospital gown and some bandages and bought a "brand new catheter bag" (never been used) and filled it with apple juice. Wore shorts under the gown an zipped the hose up in my fly. Had one arm an my head all bandaged up an a belt of gauze holding the bag. Ever so often I would run some juice out in a specemin cup an hold it up an say, "Its a lil cloudy, better run it thru again". and drink it. ;D Oh, and I too have a needle an thread an know how to sew on a button. Also have been known to use a stapler for hems and duct tape for emergencies. silicon caulk will work onna tear, as well. Iron on patches were a great invention. you'll dicover these things when ya get older an cheap like the rest of us. lol

HB,you do have quite the imagination.I am afraid I lack in that area. Spydie, when buttons fall off, things need mended, hemed, etc I sack them up for next time I see mama Owl. (& lots of things need hemmed, myself & 2 tadpoles take after daddy owl....no legs)

FROGGIE I HAVENT HAD TIME TO LOOK FOR PUMPKINS SINCE THE INLAWS CAME TO VISIT AND THEN LITTLE MAN GETTING SICK BUT I THERE IS A PUMPKIN PATCH IN DEEPWATER AND I THINK IN APPLETON SO I WILL LOOK. AND IF YOU COOK THE PUMPKIN AND BRING IT TO ME I WILL MAKE YOU A PIE BUT YOU CAN'T MAKE A JACK-O- LANTERN OUT OF IT. AND I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TOO BIG OF A SACK OF MENDING FOR ME CAUSE I HATE TO SEW, AND ONLY DO IT IF I HAVE TO!!!!!!!! I WILL GIVE YOU A NEEDLE AND SOME THREAD AND TEACH YOU HOW TO SEW ON A BUTTON, AND AS TO HEMMING I HAVE BEEN USING FABRIC GLUE CAUSE MY HANDS AND ARMS DON'T WORK AS GOOD AS THEY USE TOO

See, HB has the idea! Use what you got around the house. That's what I used to do with my boys when we were so broke long ago after I got divorced. I couldn't afford to buy costumes, that's when I started making them. I've used Rit dye and old pillow cases. With a bit of ripping and stitching, you can make a Pirate outfit out of two pillow cases. I just had the kids lay down and drew their outline on the cloth, LOL! Then cut it out.
