Went outside awhile ago and smelled skunk. And guess who wanted petted right off the bat? Yup, Sadsack. Told him NO not till I find out if yer the carrier of the smell. Turned out he wasnt, but how was I to know. Dog goes out and rolls in poop and wants petted. But I draw the line when it comes to skunks.

What's wrong with the smell of a skunk...as long as it's not strong and up close? The first thing I look forward to at the beginning of spring is the faint smell of a skunk! Can't be all that bad cause it's used as a base for perfume. FoxFire

Once the odor is removed, skunk musk is used in perfume base because of its clinging quality. And in former times it was used to cure asthma, whooping cough and similar respiratory illnesses.
