Well, as informative as that was, I think I prefer my chickens and other poultry already butchered. I kept having flashes, seeing myself on the receiving end. LOL

Being a Farm Girl I have been "chicken picken" for many years. I never had the heart to kill one but once that part was over I can do the rest. Anyhow my sister and I decided one year we would raise our own chickens for the freezer. She didn't mind the plucking part (which I hate) but couldn't do the gutting part (which I don't mind) so we figured between the 2 of us we could handle the job. We fixed up the brooder house, got our chicken feed, waterers, newspapers ect. Ordered our 100 baby chicks, have them all set up under the heat lamps and are standing admiring them when we realized we had a problem with our plan. Neither of us were going to be able to actually kill them. That is when we hollered "MOM"

I killed chickens for years it seem to be a every weekend deal for a month when I was growing up as I got on my own I would get 200 a year have them buthered and sell them made some pretty good money
