that flathead took about 15 minutes to land him. just happend to have a camera handy that day. i have hook'd some bigger then they either get in the current or close the window on ya. lol we fish a spot on the river with old car bodies half in half out and some ya cant see. thus the roll up the window. but we have hook'd some that bend a 9 ft med/hvy. rod over and snap 30 lb test line in a heart beat. what a rush !!! my buddy has land'd a 54 lb 2 yr ago but conditions have to be perfect it's does get the heart rate up a bit. 30 lb'r is not unusal. no that is not my boat in the picture . just kind of intersting though. i have 3 boats.

They have flatheads in MI. but flatheads don't bite on the usual catfish baits. They prefer live fish to anything else. The Mi. state record for flatheads is 47lbs.I know a few people up there that fish for them.Get you some shiners or chubs up there and put a live one on your hook and throw out around around some old logs or other type of cover, night time is best. When you get one get ready for the fight, they put up a good one.
Nice fish Patrick, that looks like some good eating.

they are very good eating the belly meat is the best of all i will save that part back and then make some fish sandwich's yaeh they are very strong fish this one took about 10-15 minutes almost lost it on the rocks. flatheads attack pretty hard when they hit most of the time setting the hook is just formality, they got YOU when they hit almost all the time. i have lost 1 fishing pole to them . wish i could have caught that pole half asleep in the boat about 3 am or so.
