Today on talk radio I heard a few home remedies.
For insect stings and bites use ammonia. The lady said even put it on those big ole mosquito bites and it is better within a minute. Dab it on. The smell is bad for a while but it goes away soon.
A spray called 911 Relief for poison oak and insect bites. I need to get some of this.
Tobacco juice. make a poultice and leave it on for an hour for bad bites. Or snuff.
One older man called in and said he used to get stung by those stinging worms when picking cotton. He said his grandmaw told him to pick three different leaves and smushed them into a paste and put it on. He said he didn't know how it worked but it did. Didn't matter which leaves you used as long as they were all different.
Put a clove in your mouth for a toothache.
Long time ago folks used kerosene or (I remember it called coal oil) if you stepped on a nail. I remember doing that. Not so sure I would do it now tho.
Someone else said use vinegar on bites and stings. Also said you could put vinegar on Q-tips and lay them around the kitchen if you have ants.
Use your own judgement as far as trying these. I am just posting what I heard.

I have heard of some of these home remedies. I haven't tried them. I remember my mom talking about them also.
