I just read where the Humane Society and some other bigtime animal rights group has teamed up. They're going beyond ethical treatment of barnyard animals, fur coats and pound puppies and are going to be targeting bow hunters (specifically the ones who hunt deer)

Luckily the NRA is backing the hunters. Sheesh, WE are the ones who allowed to deer population to get out of hand and the activists have decided that deer should just be left alone to be 'enjoyed'.....anyone ever live on the edge of 500 luscious acres of woods and had $500 worth of nursery flowers, trees and shrubs devoured overnight by lazy, 1/2 domesticated white-tailed deer?

I ALMOST took up huntng that year!

(uh, sorry, Buni...but if the deer are left to just look pretty, they'll starve to death yanno. There are enough for decoration AND for people's freezers))

My hubby bow hunts every year and I have me a bow I haven't gone hunting yet I don't think i am good enough yet but I might go out this year. One thing about hubby if it isn't a good clean shot he will let the thing walk away. Also it has to be in a certain weight / age bracket for him to take it.

He's a GOOD hunter, then That's the way it's s'posed to be.

I kinda inheirited a crossbow and a...long-bow(?). I think I'm gonna sell 'em, though, cuz the only "game" around this little town seems to be kids, of the human kind...and people frown on that most of the time, even if it IS so tempting.

Hmmm, I've got some black powder guns, too, (a musket? and two pistols) but those'll look cool hanging on the wall....

Hang onto the guns, do some looking into their make model, year made ect... you might have a prize on your hands! might want to have them cleaned if you don't know how to clean them. they are quite lovely hanging on the wall

I think they're "newish", not antiques (didn't look too closely, but MIGHT be CVA 'hand made' ones) Whatever, they're kinda neat...and heck, intimidating if someone icky comes to my front door. lol
