Well 1am is this mornin.
Went to the closest boat ramp to fish cuz, well, its close. Get down there an heres these kids fishin. Had they're stuff all over the ramp. I gets out an asks em, "hows the fishin" one of em replys cawt one an a few bites. I asked bout joinin em an they said they'd move their stuff.
Nice enuff of em.
We talks some an they tells me theys from Odessa, Mo. Damn long ways to come fishin if ya ask me. So I ask em howcome? They said one of em's parents fish this area alot. "ok"
I see em castin out an makin fairly good casts with them upside down reels. (openfaced spinnin reels) They was holdin em rightside up an crankin backwards. I asked one of em if it was an upside down reel an he said "No" an proceeded to hold it reel up an crank backwards. Amazed me.
I tells em I only fish ramps till bout 4, cuz at the butt crack of dawn, the trotliners run their lines. Im guessin this didnt compute with em. Cuz bout 3am, they had all bedded down in this truck they drove an left everything laying out. Poles in the water, even. I watched the poles till I got ready to leave. Youda thought my old truck wudda woke em up, but I dont reckon it did.
So heres this stuff, scattered all over the ramp an yer gonna have liners puttin in their boats inna bout an hour (from time I left). this orta be fun. Be lucky if they have anything left to pack up. what the fish an the turtles dont drag off the bank, the rest will prolly be run over.
Now I aint exzageratin bout what they left out either. I mean poles, clothes, tackle boxes left open, chairs, big rocks in the way (to prop their poles on) even hadda fire built on the ramp. I seen two of em trip over the same pole layin on the ground. I made a comment on their gracefulness, which fell on deaf ears.
Orta be an education for em this mornin.
by the way, I cawt a turtle.
