I tried this last night onna dead drum I found next to the bank. It hadda hook and a worm still in its mouth. Prolly was caught yesterday evening.

Thanks Spydie. I will try this the next time I have a fish deep hooked. We do a lot of releases of under size and oversize Redfish and under size Speckle Trout and I wonder sometime if the fish actually makes it. By the way Hill, did it work for you?

Yup, it just slipped right out. Worm and all. Course the fish didnt mind. Beins, the state he was in. But I think it mite work onna live fish just as well.
Tell ya tho. Since I been usin circle hooks, I aint had this problem. I aint never had one swaller a hook. It always hooks em in the corner of the mouth.
They do take a lil gettin used to, tho. Ya kinda gotta retrain yerself on hook sets. But it dang sure pays off in the end. I dont see me goin back to J-hooks unless thats all I got.
