MY young fishin buddy, asked my yesterday if there was a way to fix his clicker (#9) so it was a teeny bit louder. (like mine. lol) I told him I thawt one could getta new clicker to install. An that whoever had it b'fore him, prolly reeled it in with the clicker on (alot) an wore out the lil clicker doohicky. So I reckon my question/s is, Was I close and are them clicker doohickys fairly easy to get an assemble. OR do we seek the guidance of the grand Penn Master?

So I reckon my question/s is, Was I close and are them clicker doohickys fairly easy to get an assemble. OR do we seek the guidance of the grand Penn Master? Here's what I would reccomend: If you open up a 9 and lay the left side plate down, you will see the clicker tongue. They weren't designed to be replaced, but if you take a Dremel tool and grind off the top carefully (the inside of the side plate side) and carefully pry the tongue away from the button part, it can be removed. To replace, the more modern kind just snaps in and holds together with a cotter pin. Oh, and while you're doing that, it's good to replace the clicker spring too (the wishbone shaped one). That is just held in by screws. If you like, I'd be happy to do all that too. Or, if you can get it apart ok, I can send you the replacement parts.
