Battery-powered radio, flashlight, and extra batteries. Blanket (extra socks are great, too. Nuttin I hate worse than wet feet) Booster cables Bottled water and nonperishable high-energy foods such as granola bars, raisins, and peanut butter (while i dont carry this stuff, I usually can find sumpthin to eat in my truck. ie, soup, sardines, crackers or fishbait. lol ) Fire extinguisher (5-lb., A-B-C type) First-aid kit and manual Maps, shovel, flares Tire repair kit and pump (Its been a life saver to carry them Plugs and a 12v compressor. Just plug an go. I also carry a can of fix-a-flat.) In the winter I also carry a package of them chemical handwarmers, a can of sterno, an sometimes a candle. Just be sure an crack the window if yer burning sterno or candles. But then in the back of my truck you can find charcoal briquets and a camp stove, at bout anytime of the year. Beins I live where the weather changes atta moments notice, NEVER leave home without a jacket. no matter what time of the year. Better yet, just pack an overnight bag an keep it in the vehicle.

most things you can pack in those space bags and keep the same ammount of stuff in smaller space. I used to make sure I had something for my boys to keep them intertained, books, crayons... Ect.. also a jar of peanut butter is good, case of water, Dont forget the chocolate !!! id be lost without that LOL And if you travel with pets dont forget pet supplies, food, colapsable bowls, coats, ( they get cold too)

I used to have a backseat of toys at all times and slowly they started disappearing either a kid would grab them on their way out or they would get broken somehow ... now little man doesn't have as much entertainment when he is in the car.
