Punch Needle Embroidery Anyone ever do needle punch? I think its actually called Punch Needle Embroidery. But there is no stitching to it, you punch it from back to front and it leaves a loop. This is what I made my son last month for his birthday. I made mine over 20 yrs ago. I had the thread and needles and patterns saved in the attic in a big plastic container, just like the pack rat that I am. The thread is just as good as it was when I got it many yrs ago. This is when I first started doing it. This is the side you work from. Its the back side. This is what the front side looks like. I finished the patch and cut the excess cloth and basted it out of sight. Now I have to try to put it on straight and tack it on so I can sew it to the jacket by hand. Finally finished it. Here is mine from 20+ yrs ago. And the new one for my son's birthday.

It wasn't on mine since you push up and down but not up any further than the material. The down is determined by a plastic guard you put on the needle. The most fatiguing to me is the eyes because you have to punch very close to the last one each time. And the close areas has to be straight with the outline of the pattern and not mix with the other colors.

I have looked at it before, but hesitated because I thought it might bother my hands too much. Of course, the close areas might be another problem, I'll have to see, LOL, I can always give it to Savanna to do.

That's cool. Good job. I never tried anything like that. I use to do alot of the stamped cross stitch embroidery. Other week I ordered a kit off Ebay, decided I would try again. Hadn't cross stitched in about 25 years. Got it yesterday and wow I had forgot how tiny the cross stitches are and I figure about this time next year I might have it done.

Very neat! You need to get a picture of you wearing your jacket & him in his when you give it to him ;D
When I was younger, I used to cross stitch & do latch hook...then I got a license and was able to leave and that hobby did too.

CC, I know I had that jacket a good while before my divorce which was in 92. It is possible that jacket is your age or older!
