Since Spyder is posting tips on catchin fish, I thought I mite try to include some catfish tips. The only kinda fish in my book. lol And heres an article bout the kinda hook I use. The circle hook. I personally use a 6/0 size eagle claw hook. Seems to work well for what I catch. Which is bluecats mainly. They take some gettin used to after having grown up with the standard J-hooks. Ya dont jerk when they tap yer pole. Instead ya wait till they load up yer pole (bend it down) or rip some line off yer reel. then ya set the brakes on em an pull (dont jerk) the pole back. The hook normally will hook em in the side of the mouth. Sometimes in the roof of the mouth, pendin on the type of fish ya catch. I've never had one to swallow a hook since I been usin em. Nor do I have the snaggin problem I used ta have. If anyone of ya goes fishin with me, thats what we be using. Nuthin like the sound of line bein ripped off yer reel in the middle of the night. I use them for speck and red fishing with live shrimp, croakers, cockahoe minnows or shad. They work good.

As far as I'm concerned, Circles are the way to go for cats too. I think it's been about a year now and all I've used has been 7/0 blood red circles. I've caught flatheads up to 55lbs with 'em.......

ive been using circle hooks for about 3 years and the first year i used them i HATED them. after i got used to NOT setting the hook................I LOVE them............i dont think i will ever use any other hook again. my advice when it comes to circle hooks is to buy a good BRAND NAME circle hook and NOT to buy the cheaper stainless steel NO-NAME ones from ebay............You cant beat a good razor sharp hook like the Gamakatsu circle hooks............or the Mustad Demon Circle hooks .............or Daichi Circle Hooks !!
