I will put black plastic over the grass and cut holes in the plastic before it is layed down. I ake the folded plastic and cut a triangle hole every 9 inches depending on what I plant. This will be zucs and tomatoes and pepers! I will then get a cue stick type stick and push the narrow end into the hole about 9 inches deep then make a 4 inch funnel hole by swinging the sick in a circle. This is a great way to plant tomatoes or any seeds anytime . The tomatoe roots will be 9 inches or more deep and will grow strong, The zucs I add about some timerelease potting soil to the bottom of the fennel hole so the seeds are about 3 inches deep. Try it sometimes best way toplant!

As the grass roots die they add more to the soil making it rich and softer! Beans will grow great this way but plant the beans in a 6 inch circle hole 4 to a hole about a foot apart for the holes. The beans will produce very well with about 40 beans to a plant! Another method if you do not want to use plastic. Spray the grass with round up and a week later plant in the dead grass aea using the same hole method with the cue stick! A old carpet will also work instead of plastic! Lay the carpet with the back up and just cut holes with a blade knife> You can then compost on top of the carpet with just about anything!
