My hypothesis..
(2) iron core coils under the table, directly under the candles, with an A.C. voltage applied to create a magnetic flux field through the table.. (180 degrees out of phase)
In the candles.. A metal collector "base" to collect the flux field with a coil around another iron core to produce an A.C. voltage, rectified with a diode/capacitor configuration in one or both of the candles and a "convenient" area so the nail could connect to the output of the coils in the candles..
Did ya ever see those candles that are hollowed out to store stuff in?
