Whoo Hoo Oh Yeah !!! I might have 4 hens coming my way on Wed... a woman offered them to me so I gotta build a quick coop then hopefully go pick em up... ;D Keep your fingers crossed !!!! there are 3 black ones and one brown... Oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah see me dancing a jig !!!!!!! ;D

Have fun buildin a quick coop....... After I saw Doug's pretty chicks i want a few of my own.... but only wishful thinkin....ain't allowed by law...

Building a swell chicken tractor today should get it finnished by tomorrow afternoon. then get to go get my hens.... Will post ya some pics of the tractor in various stages tomorrow night...

Heres my new chicken Tractor... Took 2 days to build and we used all scrap wood .... spent more on the wire and the rolled roofing.... than everything else.... I'll try to post how it was built later.. I get the chickens in the morning.. I'll post pic of them tomorrow night !!!

Ok got my chickens now comes a problem. She said they was all hens... But I know for a fact the one is a rooster,, He has a large comb. and the brown one is a hen... But the other 2 have sort of med looking combs ... I'll post pics and maybe you all can tell me. I know there is a way to sex them but I never learned.... What if they're all roosters? Cept fer one, of course. lol
Best way to tell if they're roosters is to catch em crowing. I would guess ya got least one if not two roosters.

Sorta looks like 1 hen and 3 roosters to me , looking at the pics. Could be two lunches and two dinners as well. ;D Very nice job on the coop!

Thank you ! Hubby & I can't do too many projects together We usually have a row ;D But not a big one... On this one it was the door.... He said something about it and I sorta got a lil miffed and almost threw the hammer at him.... But then I thought if I hurt him I would have ta take care of him and then couldn't send him off to work when the job starts... ;D He got me to laughing so hard then I couldn't think of how I was gonna make it and forgot I had thingys to hold 2x4's together... ( Like my technical words ) and started using pieces of boards.... then I remembered them...... As for there being 3 roosters.... Well none are crowing.... wonder how old they got to be afore they start? Been so long I can't remember....

Maybe a blacksnake or a brown cowsnake around. They really like eggs. Are you giving the laying type of feed?.

Yup laying mash and also scratch feed... ( different grains) and also oyster shells.... Maybe they are still settling in....

SW I would say that you have 2 hens and maybe 3 it make take up to 2 weeks before they really start laying they may molt so it could be longer

I'm up to an egg every other day now... But thats better than none... I got one that has a bald spot will it get too cold ? Its not a very big bald spot but still....

keep lots of straw in there pin and as long as they can get out of the wind and rain you should be fine
