LOL I can't spell most nights !!! Yeah my fav christmas was when I was 11, we had no electricity, water came in the house through a pitcher pump, we had an outhouse, an old wood cookstove in the kitchen and a coal stove in the livingroom.... We raised our food, and dad made all our presents, us girls got baby cradles with a dolly and my brother got wood blocks and cars and trucks... We still have our cradles but my brother has nothin to show for it... We made all our ornaments for the tree out of some kinda dough and baked em in the oven, strung popcorn, and made paper chaines outta scrap papers... I think a lot of kids need to have christmases like that, then they might appriciate more...

I think the same way....In town we had the normal things. Out at the ranch there was only electricity in the kitchen and parlor.. The parlor was to be used only when we had company only....All the kids made decorations every year for the tree. Some of my fondest memories was at the ranch and away from town....

I think all kids should havta spend a month at an Amish family's place.
Mite work both ways. Prolly cause some amish kids to defect an mite cause some regular kids to live more simply. Still it wudnt hurt any of em none.

I agree !! when I was little we lived in Delaware and every week we went to visit an Amish family by the name of Yoder. We had dinner there everytime we went and it was wonderful food !!! The one who was my age his name was Jay and we used to play with his prized possesion... A rubber Ball.... Can you imagine any child today being so proud of a red rubber ball? makes you think of how much we cater to the children of today and spoil them...

Yes and it is a shame the way we let things become...From about the mid 60's forward there is no pride in anything anymore..A sorry state of affairs that it has become today!

I know all about the "ME" generation that is around today.Must have come from the other side of the family. All my kids know that I do not reward bad decisions, actions or attitudes. An example is : Dad can I borrow $5.00 ? When are you going to give it back? I get paid on Thursday and will pay it back when I get my check. Ok here is $10.00 and I want it back Friday,Give it to me and not to Mom as you got it from me and not Mom. On Saturday I still haven't been paid back my $10.00. The next time it happens, Ok this $10.00 costs you $15.00 on Friday. Saturday comes any no money because of another flimsy excuse after another. The third time they ask I say to them "NO" if you need something to eat I will see that you get something to eat but I'll not give you money to party on or to buy your blunts and cigarettes with.. This post should have been somewhere else.
