has anyone here made a faerie house?....if so i'd love to see a pic of it and hear what ya have to say about it....
i'm always behind on fads and had never heard of these until very recently....i am fascinated by what i have read about them....way i understand it, they're kinda' like doll houses, but made with all natural stuff...bark, twigs, stones, leaves, etc....am findin' that i'm lookin' around all the time now to find stuff to incorporate into the one i will be building.....got a box of stuff i've collected so far.....but don't yet have a clear picture in my mind of what i want it to look like.......
guess ya can buy pre-fab faerie houses, but what fun would that be?!?.......sorta' seems to defeat the purpose of it....an' ya might end up with a faerie ya don't like that way......an' there are festivals, etc. dedicated to faerie houses....
if ya google "faerie/fairy houses", there are a lot of sites......
i love the lines highlighted in red in the article below...
FAIRY HOUSES
A Fairy House is a gateway to a world of limitless possibilities. Interacting with a Fairy House awakens the creative mind, engages the imagination and opens a doorway into the real Fairy World.
When you get your house home, choose a place for it on a special table or shelf in your home, a secluded sheltered spot in your garden. Give your imagination free reign to create a miniature world around it with stones, plants, shells, or anything you suspect might appeal to fairies. Children are a great help in this process but, if none are available, trust the child inside you to know what to do.
Put a token of welcome beside your house such as a gemstone or crystal and a small piece of chocolate, and send an invitation from your heart for the fairies to move in. You may have to repeat the invitation a few times, but one day you will notice that the quality of light around the house has changed or you will hear distant laughter or music. The Fairies have moved in.
