Yes they are worth investing in. Hubby's chiropractor in Indiana used one on him and he felt wonderful after using it.He even advised him to purchase one. So We have been talking about getting one for here.

thanks snowflake....
we're talkin' 'bout gettin' the "deluxe" one (read that to mean it's kinda' pricey)....person i'm goin' in on with is a large person and the less expensive ones look like they wouldn't hold up so well......even if i was just buying it alone, i'd probably want to get the "deluxe" 'cuz it appears to be so much better made.....the less expensive ones caused me to think "sure would hate to be on that thing and go crashing onto my head when it decided to break".....
i'll let ya know what i think when we get it....

found one on e-bay with 4 days left on the auction that was a really good deal, but shipping was $60.....plus it's gonna' go lots higher as it gets closer to the end, judgin' from what the others like it were sellin' for....
so i'm goin' to the big city this mornin' to buy the table....when i said deluxe, i hadn't yet looked online at what is available...good grief....some of those things are way expensive....$$$ wise it makes the one we found that looks sturdy enough seem like a bargain basement special.........

made a flyin' trip to the city, and got the table... why do big ol' sportin' goods places only have 2 cashiers working on sunday morning when the store is filled with people?....and one poor teen aged guy working the floor in this huge exercise equipment area, where all kinds of us old folks were wantin' to have questions answered and stuff demonstrated?.......oh well, i digress..... got back and put it together...instructions said it'd take about 30 minutes.......hour and fifteen minutes later we had it together..... we're keepin' it at my friends place, which is in a big ol' do it themselves as it can be afforded remodelin' project.....so it is now set up in a future sun room...right now, when you're hangin' upside down, ya can see the under side of the roof, open rafters and lath and stuff......which seems appropriate since ya tend to think about bats hangin' that way when you're on it...sorta' got a bat cave feel where it's set up, which somehow seems just right...... as far as the experience of hangin' on the table......wow.......have a couple a problem areas that tend to feel real scrunched up and achy mosta' the time.....hangin', i could feel those areas stretchin' out..... i really, really think this might just be the best thing i've tried so far....have done lotsa' chiropractic and massage and icy hot type creams and have taken a truckload of ibuprofin, but i think this might just help the most...just my initial opinion ya understand, based on what i felt goin' on while i was hangin' there.....only hung for about 15 minutes earlier...gonna' go back in a while and hang for a little longer...... couple a good sites for info about inversion therapy....think they are dealers of tables and i'm not endorsin' 'em or anything, but the info they have posted is some of the best i have run across..... www.losethebackpain.com/inversion3.htmlsitincomfort.com/inthinthbein.html

day four....
oh my goodness....just 5 to 10 minutes a day, hangin' like a bat, makes a huge difference.....those scrunched places don't feel so scrunched......can't wait to see what things are feelin' like after a couple of weeks, if just four days has made this much difference...
snowflake, if your hubby's doc recommended one, ya can deduct it come tax time if my understanding of things is correct....know someone who was able to deduct a hot tub 'cuz it was doc recommended.....
betcha' it wouldn't be hard to make one, if a person was somewhat creative, knew how to weld and could round up some scrap metal pipe for the frame (sturdy, like the really old clothes line poles) and an old weight lifting bench and a little dab of other assorted scrap metal.....just thinkin' out loud....

Don't want to rain on your parade Nature but be very careful hanging so long...... I've read from doing all the research with Jim's TBI that it's not so good, according to some neurologists.
Also, this was in one ad for an inversion table: Although this activity is safe we recommend seeking professional medical advice for example from your doctor before using inversion therapy equipment. The following are contraindications for inversion therapy (should not be done): pregnancy, hernia, glaucoma, retinal detachment, conjunctivitis, high blood pressure, recent stroke, heart or circulatory disorders, spinal injury, cerebal sclerosis, swollen joints, osteoporosis, unhealed fractures, surgically implanted supports, use of anticoagulants, ear infection and obesity. There are side effects including headaches, dizziness and blurred vision. It also talks about the degree of inversion, 20,30,40 etc.
A chiropractor i used to go to built this stretching machine that worked similiar except you layed flat, he hooked straps to your shoulders and hips and stretched you that way. Felt really good. They also did a great massage before hand to relax muscles.
My house in the burgh was built in 1863 and had huge sturdy doorways. i configured a hanging post from one of those doorways and slowly let my back stretch that way. It felt soooooo good. Just be careful and watch for any side effects. These tables are definetly not for anyone who has had any type of eye, or brain injury.
