Does anyone grow their own tea or even know if tea will grow here in the states? We drink a lot of tea and I know it is real healthy for you . I drink herbal teas too... But I like black tea and green tea... Next question is .... Whats the difference between the kinds ? Or how are they dried....

snowflake, ya might need to see if ya could talk mz. kitty into growin' some for you since south carolina is the one state known for growing tea plants (according to wikianswers)..... just kiddin' 'bout askin' mz. kitty, cuz' i saw something that led me to think ya can grow it indoors if ya aren't in the right locale..... i don't have any knowledge about tea plant growing but here are a couple of sites ya might wanna' take a look at...... recipes.howstuffworks.com/tea.htmwww.groovygreen.com/groove/?p=815and in answer to the difference in teas, the groovygreen site has this...."It’s interesting to note that from this one plant, you can make Green, Oolong, or Black tea.".... and oh...i read something 'bout it's gonna' be a while, like 3 years, before your first harvest........bummer......get 'em started this year and ya can be sippin' tea when the mayan calendar ends and we get to see what that might mean..... ;D........

Thanks Nature ! I'll check it out...
I don't think the world is gonna end... Just change the way it looks to us right now. I believe the earth is gonna tumble again. and we will be in the tropics ... That might account for the warming in the north already. I could handle tropical weather what do you think ? You handle no snow?

I don't grow my own tea, but i do drink an herbal tea made from hybiscus flowers. I'm sure it's gonna take a bunch of flowers. but i don't have any growing at this point. As nature said i could probably grow some for ya....I can research it, but i've never tried to grow it before.

No Snow..that's why i moved to the carolinas......to get away from snow. I know we get some here and there but while my son was shoveling snow this morning, Jim and I were out on the lake fishing. We didn't catch anything, but we had a ball doing it......

i really like chamomile tea....with honey.....ummm....great soothin', comfort tea for whatever ails ya........ when my mom was real sick, she found that peppermint tea helped settle her stomach..... snowflake, do ya have a copy of "Carla Emory's Old Fashioned Recipe Book- An Encyclopedia of Country Living"? www.carlaemery.com/country-living-book.htmif i were undertaking what you are doing at the farm and could only have one book, that'd probably be the one i'd want.....i was lucky and found mine at a flea market, but they aren't terribly expensive if ya buy it new, considering the wealth of information it contains...they are worth whatever ya hafta pay if ya hafta buy it used...... just looked in my book and there is a big ol' section on herbs and teas..... www.carlaemery.com/index.htmlat the bottom of the page on this link, there's an index of several very interesting things...one of which is homesteading.....and ya can navagate to order books there too.......(oh my, just checked and it looks as though pretty much everything is out of stock....e-bay or used book stores come to mind).....
