Here's a pic of what i want my garden to be.... One of the four outer boxes will be for herbs, going to make it so i can grow them year round. One will also be for zucchini and one for squash. Not sure about the other one maybe peas or beans or both with trellises. The four outer boxes will be 6 x 6 and the other 6 x 24

That's a nice layout KK. Wish I could do one that big, but all I got is a patio. I'm planning out a new layout for mine now. Going to do a raised garden cause I can't get down on the ground to work one on ground level, and going to try a lot of "container gardening" too. Mostly flowers to grow that I want, but gonna try some zucchini, cukes and yellow squash too. Oh yeah and a 'mater plant, LOL.

I just went through my herloim seed book and you know that there is some peas out there that are bush type that dont need trellises . Also you can put your cucumbers on a trellis and they grow better . I'll look for the link on the cucumber trellis.

Snowflake, I've used cattle panels or hog panels arched over to grow cukes on. makes a nice lil shady spot in the garden and you can just reach up to pick em.

Thats what I was thinkin on doin. I gots all kinds of extra boards out here that aint good for a building, but would be good on small projects. And there is a bunch of fencing that is just laying around wanna re cycle all that I can this year ( beats having to pay to get rid of it !)

Thanx for the links Snowy...... was gonna do the trellis thing out of scrap wood we have around here. I might have to get some fencing due to the deer and other critters around so i might even have some of that left. Jim designed the layout for me and has several of his own good ideas for covering the herbs in the cold season.

I want to make a cold box for some plants. Kinda like a mini greenhouse. They don't look too hard to make either. What I think is funny is how much they want to charge you for their products ... And if you just study them you can make them for little of nothing!

Yea i know.... Just today Jim wanted to get one of those cases, like for a gun to carry the fishfinder in. he wanted something with lot of padding just in case we dropped it. With the weather as silly as it is here and the fact we have a nosey 14 yr old 2 doors down we pull it from the boat when we're done. Well, cost on those things was so high we decided to figure what else we could do. This is what we came up with. We bought a cheap hard-lined cooler. Ya know the ones that the liner comes out. I bought a small sheet of foam padding and some industrial strength velcro. Total cost on those things $15. i lined heavily the hard liner with the foam, attaching it with the velcro so each time we pull the fishfinder out i didn't want to mess with the foam comin out. The finder fits perfect and cost about a fifth of the price. Velcro and foam padding.....am i getting more Hillbilly or what/

you know when I was in Indiana I was at a pet smart and overheard a conversation a man was having on his cell phone. he was telling someone what a good deal he was getting on his kitchen make over it was only going to cost hi 75 THOUSAND for a facelift to the cabinets I just about fell over ! I was tempted to tell him Id do it for half that !!! It is hard to believe what people think is a "good deal" !! Shoot for that price I could build a new house ! People have no sence of what things really cost !!!
