Cawt a 7 1/2 pound blue this mornin and hadda bird nest big enuff ta raise a litter of condors in. First cast with the 180 and poof! Not bad but enuff ta havta untangle. So I was standin there pullin line till I got all the losse loops outta the reel. Loops bein line thats teeny diameter an nearly impossible to see. 65 pound power pro of some invisible color. Went ta reelin it back up under tension an hadda lil resistance an pulled. WRONG! Just happened to be a rather large piece of bark had snaked into the mass of line. Sudden pull made it dance a jig. Which made it tangle all of the loose line up. So here I am sittin on the bank, got my readin glasses mounted over my normal glasses an head lite pointin at mess, darnin needle in hand, and hopin a fish didnt happen to snag what I had managed to get into the water. Salvaged what I could an brought out the knife. Then wrapped up what was out in the water. Tied on again an wanged er out there. Lil while later sumpthin grabbed hold an knocked my dinger off. Made the clacker sound like a motor boat takin off. After a lil tusselin, I almost thawt I hadda Flat. It wasnt wantin to herd in. Blues usually will herd once ya get em turned. This'n didnt wanna turn. Then as I was pullin in ta leave, I snagged the sinker on sumpthin that snags sinkers. I figger I better wait till daylight ta undress said fish or I mite wind up missin a thumb or worse.

WTG on the blue...Power pro can be a pain to work with untill it gets broke in some.

yes i'm quite proud of you HB...'cept ya got a way to go in the proper technique of birdnestin'.....since Chef Jim wasn't involved in untanglin' it at his shop, then you're close, but HB, no cigar....extra points given for finally havin' to take a knife to it, though.....
an' that 7 1/2 lb. blue.....geez, wish i'da been there so ya coulda' done for me like folks do for their kids...you know, get one on real good and then ask the kid to hold the pole for a minute, so the kid can say they "caught" one......i'd dearly love to catch/bring in a 7 1/2 pounder......
congratulations on a fine catch HB.....

Hilly that is a nice Blue..Could almost pass for a 8 lb channel. Then it would be worth 40 pts.
