Joyce, I heard there is a field of windmills somewhere west of Bradford with about a hundred of them. Do you know what town or county that is in? I would love to see them. I wonder what they are used to power.

Heard it on talk radio yesterday. Thats what he said... west of Bradford. Some guy said he was driving by them and saw them. He didn't say exactly where it was tho. I am surprised we have enough wind here for it to even work for power. They were talking about something else and he just mentioned it briefly.

I'll keep checking. It could be out in the area where the Mennonites are. They are west of Bradford.

We have several "wind farms" in many rural areas in my part of Canada and more are planned. They can supply the power needs of several communities. Some farmers complain of the constant humming noise made by the turbines. Also say the cows get distracted & produce less milk! Guess they're tilting at windmills! A wind farm can comprise dozens and dozens of "windmills" that look like those in this picture.

Yeah, neat Chloe. Do you have much wind in those areas? Maybe they are designed for low wind conditions. I may have to call in and ask on Bill Ways show, but sure hate to do that on live radio...too shy. grrrrr Some one listening will prolly call and say where they are if I did. The other hosts have email but Bill doesn't use his. He said he got too many and it was hard to keep up with them. What it is, is he is an arrogant ass and doesn't want to bother with them. joyce you should mention it on the talkback forum. Dang, I just don't have much to say on there so just don't go there. I rather not argue with anyone, and from what I read there that is what happens most of the time. Or get Jaxx Sun to do an article on them.

Spydie, living on the Canadian prairies/plains there's no shortage of wind here ... usually sweeps in from the west or the north.
Come winter time, the wind chill factor makes for bitterly cold days & I will be whining about that no doubt! ;D

Spydie, you may have to call the show Monday and find out more about it. My last resource made some phone calls to several people west of here and they didn't know anything about any windmills. One man has 2 on his property.
