Me an mud went ta the downside of the Dam dam ta fish last night. Was lights scattered all up an down the spillway. Found us a nice uncrowded area an set up. on the right was a over hangin platform complete with a bunch of folks and a generator and lights. Peers lighted bobbers are a good seller there.
We each brought only three poles an used em all. Also had some disposible weights (aka sparkplugs) Good thing cuz lost the lead weights rite off the bat. Then a few plugs. some line. lotsa nerves. And folded up an left for more quiet waters. Didnt take long ta learn a valuble xperince. Dont Go Back! Mite be a nice place ta look at the big fishies and drool. but the actual fishin sucked.

Went ta countyline bridge and caught some big ol softshelled turtles. And didnt lose no line er weights er nuttin.

I reckon that proves another old theory: If it sounds (or looks) too good ta be true; it probly is! I figgered something must be deficient over there. Cause at one time it was neart elbow ta elbow down that West bank, and a lotta th East one. Fer a few years, th surf rods was so thick it looked like a cane patch with a ditch in th middle!
Ya know there useta be some fellers used remote control boats ta carry their baited hooks up close ta th dam an drop em. There was a passel of bigguns took outa there thataway. Could be others got th idea them bigguns was thick all over. Anytime ya got shad an other baitfish as thick as they are up there, yer gonna have big cats in th area, at least some a th time. There ain't no real cover up there that I know of; just a rip rap bottom (I been told) an it probly scoured. If that's th case, them fish won't likely stay there full time.
Anyway I'm glad ya got it outa yer system. It's good place ta view some rilly nice fish, but with th restrictions, not too productive!

Went to the bend last night and cawt a couple blues. One four and one, five. A couple gar. But no turtles. And didnt see no snakes till the very end. Drizzled all nite. Picked a good nite ta forget my jacket. But least we cawt fish and eatable ones at that.

Hilly my sons go to our little lake out here and even if they do catch nice fish they throw em back cause they is too dang lazy ta clean em .... won't even bring me home the crappy.....

Heard the lake is gettin ready to turn over. I spect its gettin bout that time.

Ok, I been searchin for a more ezact science as to whatfer an why and have come up with meybe that feller musta meant sumpthin else. I'll start a new thread under "fishing" and copy some examples I have found. Meybe it'll clear up some of the misconseptions.
