Rescue your Wet Cellphone Do you know someone who has dropped their cellphone in the sink, toilet, or a pool? Have you ever spilled a drink on your cellular causing it to malfunction? Would you like to know a cool way to save your wet phone? I have heard about being able to save your wet cellphone using rice before but was never sure if it actually worked. This short video illustrates the method of rescuing your cellphone by placing it in an airtight container filled with rice. Although the video seems like a cheesy commercial, it goes on to explain what to do as soon as your phone gets wet, and why this is actually supposed to work. Since I didn’t want to drop my cellphone in water just to prove this method works, I ask you…has anyone tried this before? Does it work, or is it just a myth? www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2d1VALRfIk

Hubbys phone just died last week from water. Luckily we had insurance on it and for 50.00 they sent him a new one ( and cause his model was discontinued he got a newer and better model!!!) Glad we had the insurance !!! But it would be nice if the rice thing works!

I saw more than one drop theirs in the river. They all dried it with a hair dryer and either it never worked again or it half way worked for one day and died. Don't know if this works or not, haven't known anyone that tried it. I can get a free phone by signing up for another 2 yrs contract, which I don't mind. I plan on keeping my plan anyway. But there are so many choices I can't make up my mind. Thinking about getting a razor since they are real thin. Or a slider.

Don't know about cell phones but I had a small calculater that went through the wash an spin cycle of the washing machine. Thought it was ruined so went to Radio Shack and got a new one. Took the old one apart and about a week later I tried it out and it worked great. Now it stays on the kitchen table and is still used. Just took a little time to dry out.
Not bad for a cheapie. Paid $3.95 for it 30 years ago.

I have never tried the rice but I have given my phone a bath in some red hawaiin punch...the entire screen & buttons went red (that was the 1st phone). I have also thrown one out the car window on accident without thinking about it until it was done and it was a rainy day and puddles were everywhere! I recently had to replace my phone cause it had all the use it could handle (which btw Spydie was a Samsung slider & I LOVED it) and now I have the Nokia 6300 Music Xpress Slider and I hope to have it for a long time. I have a MP3 player, video recorder, voice recorder, camera ... & can even talk and text on it too I have had other phones in between...some of them just were upgraded when the upgrade came around. I will have to remember the rice theory next time...if it is already wet and damaged it can't hurt it anymore! ;D

I am told Altel has the best reception for mine an yer areas. I did kinda have my mind set on T-Mobil til I talked to a few around. Cupcake mite hava different opinion tho. I think thats what she uses. Prepaid mite use a different phone than subscript phones. I dunno. Tho I am like you an share the idea of havin a (glovebox phone) just for emergencies. I call em glovebox phones, cuz thats where it'll prolly be kept mostly. I DO know where the on/off button is an know how to use it.

Alltel does have good reception down there, but their plan would never benefit me...they don't have all the options that mine does. They don't have the unlimited texting that mine does which is a MUST for me as much as I text. & yes I do use T-Mobile and I have been very happy with their service...I have had it for 6 years now.

Ya, but for sumpthin like Owl or myself wud want, it should do just fine. Bein able to get out is more important than all the bells an whistles. If I fall in the creek or truck wont start while fishin or got an aligator on my leg, I aint takin the time to text someone.

If you text fast then you have time to text while the alligator is on your leg
