I just LOVE all these "alternate" house building mediums popping up! What I really find amusing is that most of them have been around 'forever' but the American people have been so caught up in luxury and "keeping up with the Joneses" that they have been long forgotten and/or totally unacceptable if they were remembered. It's a shame that it took our country's hard fall for us to realize that these other building mediums are practical, COMFORTABLE, and greatly ease our debt. I look at these pics and get so mad at myself. Awhile back I had 2 dogs that ate a type of dog food that came in 20# bags made of vinyl tarp-like material. I saved them for a LONG time thinking they MUST be good for something. They were waterproof and lasted and lasted when I used them for stuff. I finally threw most of them away a couple months back. *kicking myself hard* thistinyhouse.com/2009/a-tiny-earthbag-house/www.earthbagbuilding.com/projects/haiti.htmThese were built as saunas, but would make an adorable little cabin... the second one only cost $125 to build!!!earthbagbuilding.wordpress.com/page/2/

Very nice interesting post! I will be doing my greenhouse over this summer and will look at ll things! I am going to set up a water heating system where my only electric will be or a small pump for the water base board heaters! I think I can keep the greenhouse 40% and above all winter with just solar heat!

Thanks! That sounds like a great green house! Oh, how I dream of having one some day. I keep thinking about these bag houses. Now I am wondering how easy it would be to use this concept to make some outdoor furniture, especially maybe a 'couch', and maybe a bench. May give it a shot this summer. The wheels are turning, lol, visualizing a couch made like that, all painted up to look like an indoor couch. (yes, must be the tired sillies kicking in, must be time for me to turn in, LOL)
