mosquitoes & listerine
The best way of getting rid of mosquitoes is Listerine,
the original medicinal type. The Dollar Store-type works,
too. I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs
were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party
sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the
little demons disappeared. The next year I filled a
4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat
whenever I saw mosquitoes. And voila! That worked
as well. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the
area around the food table, the children's swing area,
and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I
don't leave home without it...Pass it on.
Got this from a friend so not sure if it works or not but hey cheaper than sprays, candles ect.

SF had posted something about using it and then I couldn't find the thread again. So I googled it after I bought a big bottle of the generic at the Dollar Store. I found out from reading about it that it works for some folks and doesn't for some others. It has something to do with your body makeup or some such thing. lol Anyway, I saw one site that said if it doesn't work for you to put listerine (or the generic brand) and vinegar...50/50 mix and put in a spray bottle. Well, I reckon the vinegar will stink em off of ya. But I am going to try both ways because I am a total mosquito magnet!!!!!!!!!!! They have a feast on me especially if I am out in the late afternoons.

I know some people swear by "Skin-so-soft" can't remember if it is Avon or Mary Kaye.
If you wear perfume or use scented deoderants, soaps, shampoo's ect they are attracted to it for some reason. Also Hairspray, my Aunt used to use a ton of hairspray and she would get eaten alive, when she stopped with the teased hair (that I swear wouldn't move in a hurricane, as kids we used to try to mess it up) she doesn't get bit near as much.

I wear hairsprays, soaps, deodrant, mousse, perfume and everything and I really don't get eaten by skeeters as much as the people around me. I do get a bite here or there, but Owl GETS EATEN ALIVE!

I HAVE TRIED SKIN SO SOFT AND IT MAKES THE MISQUITOS EAT ME EVEN WORSE! I USE THE CUTTER INSECT REPELLENT WIPES AND THEY WORK GOOD, I MIGHT TRY THE LISTERINE BUT I WILL HAVE THE WIPES JUST IN CASE CAUSE WHEN MISQUITOS BITE ME I SWELL UP AND I HAVE TO TAKE BENEDRYL AND I AM MISERABLE!

I gotta agree with Owl here, a few years back in Northern Mo. we went to my daughters softball game, dang those skeeters were bad, one of the moms had the Avon skin so soft, we all applied it...and it WAS worse!! Listerene is a great product though.. At one time, due to it's anti-bacterial/antiseptic qualities, it was only available to Dentists and Docs
