I kinda been plannin an all day fishin trip down the mighty Gallinipper creek in the canoe. Dave says he'll do the shuttling and Devin (Mud) says he'll paddle an fish. We gots ta do it when the water is up alil or we'll havta carry alot.
I shot the creek bout 30 years ago. Hadda dog that rode with me then. I doubt I can get a goat to ride inna boat. Sides, we got fishin gear to take. I'm lookin forward to it. I figger its only bout a seven mile trip. But theres new (to us) fishin holes to explore. And its all within ten miles of home. Whatta deal!!
Meybe later on we can shoot the Sac River. Its more popular tho. Lotsa folks canoe it. Then theres the never popular Weaubleau creek. (pronounced Wob-Blo for you non locals) The latter two are listed in the Missouri Floaters handbook.
I've floated many of the main streams an rivers in southern Missouri. And while they're all nice and perty and expensive. Sumtimes the best fishing and enjoyment can be had right near yer backyard. Or within fifty miles or less.

I fish 12 ponds less than 20 minutes from my house and 3 rivers less than 45 minutes from me along with lake Michigan and 2 smaller lakes within 40 minutes makes me crazy when my fishing partner says lets go to Minn or WI.to fish when any species they have there I can catch here.
