Yesterday went over to a nieghboring town, 11m away and the scooter did 55 all the way with no problem at all. I deffinetly got to get a windshield on it though. I have one here but don't have any brackets for mounting it, but my nieghbor told me a place about 35 m away that has all kinds of salvaged parts so going to go check it out and see if they have some. They want a small fortune at the bike shot for them. Another new member has joined.

CONGRATS on the leagle !! LOL I was a wondering about that if it was like a motorcycle. in WV you have to have a seperate liscence for the bike. Yeah you definately need a windsheid , will help protect you a bit from the bugs ! Out here in Utah they dont even wear helmets ! since I have been here there has been 3 motorcycle accidents with 2 resulting in death from head trauma ! Guess people think they are invencible !!!
Have fun tooling around on your scooter papa !

Ya, bout any kind of deflector would help. I have noticed that at 30, bugs dont splatter. They just bounce and annoy the heck outta ya. Funny, I dont remember being annoyed as a kid on my old Suzuki. Meybe thats because I was the one that was annoying.

Yep, the bugs bother me a lot more than they use to, got a windshield but have to get some brackets to mount it with. Went to the local Honda dealer and they want both arms and both legs for the friggin brackets, but a friend told me where there is a two wheel salvage yard about 45 miles away so will be going up there in the near future and see what they have. I'm one of those that don't wear a helmut, might be a dumb thing but been doing it for 50 years now, mama ain't happy about it, but that['s just part of life. I hate them and tend to fall asleep when having one on, which was only once due to Oregon says you have to.

I think Missouri still requires a helmet for licensed bikes. (over 50cc)
I feel like if yer old enuff to buy beer and vote and make decisions, ya orta be able to decide what kinda safety devices you wanna wear or not wear. Like seat belts and helmets and the like.

I agree to an extent BUT I think the idiots that ride the fast street bikes should have to wear EVERYTHING !!!! our friend jumped on one just to try it out to buy from a friend, lost it and now has been in ICU in SC in a medical induced coma, He will have to endure about 15 facial reconstructive surgeries before they let him out of the coma.

Yeah, them croth rockets that will do 150 or more are just dangerous and people riding them are just waiting for thier trip to the ER, if they make it through. I've been 136 yrs ago and that was to dang fsst, now they will do 200mph, one little rock and you are airborn at that speed.

Used the scooter to pick up and deliver between the stores yesterday, got to go for a putt and take care of bussiness at the same time. I also found a friend that has a windshield and the hardware to mount it for, $25, instead of $100 at the dealers.

Have you ever rode a scooter before?? If not, when you topple over, get back up and ride it again, that way you won't be afraed afraid of it. That's how I got both of mine, ladies went down and wouldn't get back on, lucky deals for me.

When I useta ride bikes with my ex I hated the danged bugs. I finally put a face shield on my helmet after I got hit in the face by a wasp. When I was a kid, we useta joke about we could tell the bikers by the bugs on their teeth, LOL.

In fifty years of riding, I'm sure I've had a few of them, use to never wear a helmut or anything and rode hard and fast, now slow and easy. These japanese beetles are hard as rocks, even worse than june bugs. You hit a june bug and he's dead, hit the beetle and and he hangs on and takes a bite. Hate the little buggers.

I just couldnt stand paying for gas anymore, so I broke got me another scooter. Just a lil japanese dual sport this time around. DR200. gets 75 miles to the gallon. Goes anywhere too. Still a far cry from the BMW f650 I dream of. But I can always give this one to my boy in a couple years. He can get his motorcycle permit in less than 3 years.

I sold my Vino this spring but still have my Metropolitan, it don't go as fast, but still gets 100mpg and I love puttin around on it. Gettin close to turning over 6000 miles on it now and still runs like a dream. Gotta change the oil again at the 6000 mark, but it only holds 6/10ths of a quart so guess it won't break me. lol

I feel for the guy that bounced off the pavement. Really. have done it myself and did not enjoy it, got a nasty concussion. I always wear a helmet now. I had one of those bullet bikes in my 20's and know how dangerous they are. Most folks make the mistake of over estimating their own skill and underestimating what 100 horses on 2 wheels can do. Having had all kinds of motorcycles from the moped to the ninja, I am quite happy on my little street legal dirtbike. Need the capabilities out here in the country with all these sand roads. Plus its fun to take shortcuts.

I agree bee, not into the big bikes anymore, had more than my share of scrapes and close calls, course riding drunk and loaded didn't help a bit, but that's all past history now, and has been for quite a few years now.
