I'm in the process of searching for an outside wood furnace. If anyone has one I'd like to know what kind you use and any advice you can offer. I am currently leaning toward this one. www.mccormickcos.com/E-200.htmlagain any information will be appreciated.

I have some outdoor wood stoves. But thats only because they're too far gone to be indoors. ~I think a "smirk" goes here~
Seriously, I have looked at some in the past. Don't recall the names of em. And never used one. I have thought bout building a block container and stickin a large woodstove in it and venting it into the trailer. If it was at a lower level, it would produce convection heat and no need of a blower. Unless ya wanted it to go somewhere where it didn't wanna go.

Several people around here have 'em and absolutely love 'em. In thinkin' about it, i've never heard a bad thing said. Most recent one i've heard about is a friend who just installed one to their mobile home. He was so excited about finally being warm. Said electric heat, no matter where they set the thermostat, they could never really get warm. Said it's really toasty now. Said it's the best money they've ever spent, and it'll pay for itself quickly because their monthly electric bill was running over $220 during the cold months. When i see him next (or i could call him), i'll ask if he would be good with some e-mail conversation with you about it, if you're interested. He's an intelligent guy and he works in construction, so he would probably be a wealth of info.

We decided to go with the wood furnace. It was finally delivered yesterday and wasn't extremely difficult to setup. We got it up and running in a couple of hours, and had unlimited hot water last night. I spent most of this morning trying to figure out the thermostat. I just couldn't get my head wrapped around the drawings. There were three sets. one for the furnace, one for the air handler, and one for the thermostat. I called the dealer and he tried to set me straight, but it still didn't work. Finally, after about 3 or 4 hours of staring at the schematics, I broke down and called my uncle. Between the two of us, we figured it out, and had it up and running in a matter of minutes.

the firebox is 30"x36"x36" and the door is 30"x36" so i can pretty well stuff in about half a tree at a time. It is kinda nice though, cause if I can roll it up to the furnace I can burn it.

I just paid my electric bill on KCPL's website. I was very pleased to see that my furnace only raised my electric bill by about $3.00 per month. Couple that with the fact that I'm no longer burning propane, and life gets really good.

Woo Hoo! You go Telly!....You'll have all that extra to put into your new truck! For those unfamiliar with propane...at the end of the summer (when ya can pre-buy before winter prices,) it was 1.59 per gallon in my area...was nearly $2 per gallon a month or so ago for those who didn't pre-buy ....it probably wouldn't be stretching it to say a family could easily go through 150-200 gallons a month when it's as cold as it has been... Good investment Telly. That stove will pay for itself before ya know it.

You could make that back if ya charged a dollar a head to come over and play Pitch and enjoy the heat.
