I been a watchin cookin shows on TV since I got a new antenna. Only thing I can get to come in.
Anyhow, this show was featuring a guest gal chef and said one of the most important things I ever heard bout cooking. one that I often unknowingly follow.
She said, "Recipes are like road maps. Sometimes its good to get off the traveled path."
Truer words were never spoken, I don't think. That fits so many things including recipes.

I usually follow a recipe once... Then if it is ok I change it up by adding or taking away ingredients... you sometimes come up with better tasting stuff that way

I change recipes too after I've tried em out. Sometimes adding a spice or something, or taking it away, makes the world of difference. But I also have fun making up my own recipes. Cooking's nothing more than experimentation, what tastes good to one may not to another.
