TROTLINE FISHING ON TRUMAN LAKE NEAR OSCEOLA, MISSOURI, IS GREAT CLAY SMITH HOLDS the 84 lb. flathead catfish. Bait was perch. It was caught Friday, May 18, 2012. Trotline fishing in the Osage Arm on Truman Lake, near Osceola, in St. Clair County, located in Western Missouri, south of Clinton, has been good lately and this was an opportunity for Gladys Smith, her son Clay and grandchildren Caitlyn and Carter to have a fun family outing. Ms. Smith told us that in three days of checking lines they had caught many fish including a huge 84 lb. flathead, a 40-pound and a 25-pound white cat, several flatheads in the 20-pound range and five garfish. "Besides catching the big fish, the children really enjoyed doing the bait fishing. We had three days of real fun for all of us. The only thing that wasn’t much fun was the five garfish we caught," Ms. Smith commented.--Gar Garman, Assistant Sports Editor, The Clinton Daily Democrat, Clinton, MO.

Doesn't look like he put it back in to grow some more though. Sure is a dandy flat. Unless of course his house sits right by the water. I couldn't even bring myself to keep the 20lber, had to let him grow bigger.

They ain't members of the boc. ;D

Oh, I keep the smaller ones, when I need some fish, but I like to let the biggies go with the idea, I might get to catch them again when they are even bigger. Plus them biggies make a lot of babies, so there is more fish around for me to catch and eat. I wasn't meaning it to be a put down hilly, just my feeliings, but if they need the food, then it's the way it should be.
