Yesterday (Saturday) a long lost cousin I hadn't seen in several years came down and brought his oldest son (whom I had never seen) and fished. Son is a crappie fisherman. Wanted ta know bout catfishing. Told him it'd take more than one afternoon to learn all there was. HOTTEST part of the day. And they wanna fish. I backed my car up to their truck and stuck together a PVC frame with a tarp on it for an instant shade tree. Hadda good breeze. Wasn't too bad. They brought Son's lil 10 foot boat with em. So I showed em how to put together some jugs and sent em off to drop some around. Showed son how to throw a cast net. Fast learner, just needs practice. Caught up on lotsa old stories. And mita even started a few new ones. Son caught a couple lil crappie. I got a drum on one pole and later caught a monster flathead that mita went a pound anna half. Nuttin on the jugs. But least we had hooks in the water.
After they were loaded up to go back home, I told son I would just consider him enrolled in my personal catfishing school as an "Apprentice Baiter" if that was all right. He said it was. I then said when ya pass and become certified, he would be a "Master Baiter". I gotta look that only Kodak wudda been proud of. ;D ;D
They both gonna havta start either alil later or a lil earlier in the day tho. Like when its dark. There's normally not any shade right on the bank. I don't magine the fish like it any more than I do.
Mud came by later and showed off a couple lil blues he'd caught.
Mud and PJ and me was attemptin ta fish more after Cousins went home till the rain started. I read where the Osage is coming up. Mite be a good night, tonight.
