Thank you for sharing this! I have been trying to find better ways to save water, other than in just the buckets I put out. Course, it will have to rain, first.

Cant believe hubbies uncle got rid of all the rain barrels ! Mum used to water her flowers and gardens with them. But his wife was worried about Mosquitoes ! She is always worried about something or other !

A goldfish in each barrel will take care of that.

Hiya Hilly ! You know I never thought of that ! I was watching a show the other day and this guy had sheep on his farm and he kept a donkey in the field with them to keep the predators away. Might have to have one lol

Just go to bout any animal shelter in Texas and you can prolly get all the donkeys you want. I hear they been dumping donkeys all over texas just to get rid of em. Here at the sale barns, you can pick one up fer bout $20 bucks. Horses are cheap here too. Dunno bout texas. Folks can't afford to feed anything that don't make it's own way.
And ya, they do make good guard animals or so I hear. As do Llamas. A friend of me and Flwr has Llamas. A feller down the road useta have a donkey till it got to where it wouldn't let him near the herd. He got rid of it.

I was going to get a llama, but decided I want an Alpaca instead. Been looking for a reasonable priced one for awhile, now. I put a few goldfish in my pool, once to keep the mosquitoes out because I didn't want to use it to swim in any more but it is a good place to save water for fire emergency. The next spring there were a few hundred gold fish in it! Lost quite a few in our past two high-heat summers, but still quite a few and the original one is now about a foot long! A donkey sounds fun. Someone that lived on route to town had the mini ones and they were adorable. They were often laying on the front porch when I went by. I can just imagine why the eventually fenced them off away from the house.
