The oaks are finally rebudding. I have 3 medium size ones out back and they are looking great. Now the ones in the back woods behind the pasture are trying to rebud but seem to be slower. My sycamore tree out back still looks dead.
My 2 Japanese maples have a few new buds on them and so does my redbud.
My butterfly bush is dead I think and my day lilies look real bad, especially the ones I couldn't get covered up.
I do have some iris blooming, but they are few and far between.
So maybe in a couple more weeks the Easter freeze will be a forgotten memory.

Bought me some mato plants this morning. Poor little spindly looking things. Maybe once they get in the ground they will be alright.
Hope to get them and my squash planted tomorrow.

Got my matoes and summer squash planted yesterday. All the north garden is planted.
My beets, green beans and cranberry shelly beans are coming up good. Got to get ready to start spraying em. Already some bug holes on my potatoes.
Been out in the south garden this morning. Got it in pretty good shape finally. Gonna plant it Monday probably. Get some kidney beans and blue bloom shelly beans. They are a heirloom bean. I have never been able to find them in a seed catalog. There was an old lady who years ago gave Momma a start of the seeds. We raised them for years when I was at home. After Momma and them moved to town we lost the seeds. I went to the lady's house about 5 years ago and ask if she possible had any more seed and she gave me a quart jar full. I make sure each year I save that many seed. They are the best tasting bean of all I think.
Sorry for the rambling but y'all don't have any idea how good it feels to be able to be outside working my gardens this year, especially after what I went thru last year. I still ain't 100%. I feel bad alot but that may be old age. ;D

I love hearing about your days in the yard joyce. Keep telling us about it. I need to mow yard but just not feeling like it yet. I think you are doing fantastic after what you went thru...thinking I know you over do it too. But hey, its fun, so I know how ya feel doing it. Going to be in 80's next week, maybe I can get back in the yard again.

My grapevine is trying to put out again. I sure thought it was dead. The north garden is looking good. Got 4 rows planted in the south garden. After these showers are over I hope to get the rest of it planted. I guess I'm the only one with a garden. What about it HB. I thought you was gonna have a garden.

Thanks mamafrog. I know I wouldn't get to have the gardens I do if I worked a full time job. There just ain't enough hours in the day. I'm out there 2 or 3 hours of a morning early then I get to come home and piddle all day. If ya'll were closer I'd keep ya'll in fresh veges this year.

Well I actually plowed the garden today. The north garden is getting pretty. Got it chopped, sprayed and the middles tilled. Got potato pods for blooms already. My cabbage are beginning to make heads. Carrots are about finger high. Beets a little shorter. Tomatoes have finally started growing. Summer squash is coming up. Hopefully early in the morning gonna get back in the south garden and work it. The kidney and blue bloom beans are coming up there. Gonna plant my purple hull peas and maybe my cukes and cantaloupes. Can't find anybody selling sweet potato slips. Called a couple of places this morning. They say they can't get em. Gonna try some more places tomorrow,

Wow, you have been a busy one! I actually got outside and cleaned a little in my shed...boy it is a mess! I used some vinegar on my walkway last week and it worked. Just did a little of it to see if it worked to kill the weeds. I put a little more down, but chance of rain all this week, just do a little at a time I guess.
Good thing buzzards rather have roadkill or she would be flyin over that nice garden.
Mamafrog decided on a name I see. LOL
